Support Book - Spamming Data


Overview


When a site is revisited the controller can become faulty, this happens when the controller was left in a certain state (see causes) during the first attempted installation.

This is exhibited as an extremely rapid flow of incoming data packets on the device information page of the affected site on the toolkit. (image below)

Calibration is possible, however each calibration will take a very long time to complete and the controller will intermittently lose connection to the server. (Between 10 - 20 minutes per tap). - This is unacceptable.

Support Process

If the backlog of events is >2 month, It is too big.

Make sure you have completed the "General" support steps.

  1. Establish the size of the backlog of events coming in. (should be roughly from date and time of last visit, though will not always present chronologically. Look for the average date stamp)
  2. Do the messages say complete?

Yes:

Is the most common date-stamp from >2 months ago?

Yes:

Advise installer to leave site, arrange revisit, make sure controller retains data connection to server so it can broadcast the backlog of messages before a return to site. Advise publican not to 

No:

Advise installer to wait 20 minutes to ascertain that the data is coming through consistently and chronologically.

Wait for messages to clear.

No:

Is the most common date-stamp from >2 months ago?

Yes:

Replace SD card

Carry on installation.

No:

Wait for them to clear down.

Carry on installation.


Causes

The four known states at the moment that cause this issue are:

  • Controller left in Step 7 - Message type : "Connector Signal Event"
  • Controller left in step 6 - Message type : "Installation Connector State Event"
  • Installation completed but website not completed job - Message type  :"Pour Start", Pour
  • Installation completed  - Message type : "'Pour Start Complete Event'", "'Pour Stop Complete Event'", "'Full Pour Complete Event'", "Pour Stop with Temp Complete Event", "Full Pour with Temp Complete Event"
